A 40 years old man, Tunde Ibitoye who is the proprietor of a nursery/primary school in the town of Olope area of Ado Ekiti, was caught having sex with an 11-year-old pupil of his school. Sources say that he was caught pants down in Agric Olope area of Ajilosun while allegedly committing the evil act by a 30-year old auto mechanic, Mr Kayode Ayeni.

Sources confirmed that the mob in outrage attacked the proprietor, owner of “God is Great Nursery and Primary School” in Kajola area of the town; he was rescued before being killed by the men of the state police command from Ologede police station from where he was transferred to the state police command headquarters.

Mr Victor Babayemi, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Ekiti police command, said Ibitoye was currently being detained at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the state police headquarters. It was revealed that Ibitoye had had sex with her four times, and explained that investigations were still going on the matter.

According to Babayemi, the suspect was conveying the victim and one other pupil to their respective homes on Monday in his private car “and stopped at the new market on the pretext that he wanted to defecate, but with alleged intention to defile the girl.”

Babayemi added: “After five to ten minutes he had entered into the bush, the proprietor called the pupil to bring a toilet roll for him. But fortunately, a person was watching. And out of curiosity, the man went there and met the two of them naked. He then raised the alarm, which attracted people to the spot.”

The police spokesperson said the girl had been taken to the University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, for a medical examination, the result is yet to be received.

The suspect, Tunde Ibitoye continually denied having canal knowledge of the pupil, saying the police “are not buying such a story from him.”

Babayemi added that the father of the victim confirmed that the pupil had come home several times with bloodstains, which he said was mistaken for monthly menstrual flow.

It is suggested that other pupils in the vehicle should be interrogated and examined to determine if there are more victims of this dastardly act; interrogating the pupils will also give more information about the kind and status of the sexual relationship involving the suspects and the pupils. Incident of rape is on the rise in many states of Nigeria and it is a common occurrence in schools and communities. It is important parents and care-givers are attentive to the needs and happenings of their wards.
